Dâm-Funk + stolen library records
Dâm-Funk's new Rhythm Trax Vol.4 EP on Stones Throw is crazy. Says the label:
Here's the track "Purple" from the EP over some Out Run.
Dam-Funk x Outrun from stonesthrow on Vimeo.
Hearing this EP made me finally rip one track from a record I'm currently "borrowing forever" from a junior high school mini-library.
Yuji Toriyama & Ken Morimura-"Night Together"
On Rhythm Trax Vol. 4 Dam maintains the instrumental theme, displaying his technical mastery of old school drum machines and early 80s analog synthesizers. The soundscapes of this Rhythm Trax contribution provide enough bass to rattle trunks while maintaining colorful melodies perfect for even the most intimate moments.

Newham Generals
Never really got into Newham Generals too much, though big tracks are obviously good. The new material that's been poppin up is enough to get psyched for the record that supposedly will never drop. This one is Brickman with NG produced by Footsie.

Fluorescent turtles, mini-Guinness, Arashiyama, old Jungle and some other stuff
First off...
Code 071-"A London Sumtin(Tek 9 Remix)"

Weird glowing turtle in Center-Kita...They had tons of snakes, lizards and marsupials too but this turtle looked the happiest.

Also in Center-Kita, which has a mini-bubble land kind of vibe anyway, pretty decent Irish pub with mini-Guinness and regular size for only twice the price as Woodside!

Spider and cloud are the same word in Japan.

Arashiyama never gets old...we walked across the river after some tofu ice cream.

This chicken-duck was in Maruyama Park.

I'm tryin to get a whole room with these walls just to chill out in.

Tried to get a video of this badass mantis turning its head at me but no go...

Maruyama Park is pretty wide I guess and there's a huge row of old sports cars lined up on one side that look like they belong to a mob family that takes care of the giant sakura tree.

Pirate cat in Yokohama.

These motherfuckers are everywhere in the summer.

The Foreign Cemetery in Yokohama close to where I went to the dentist.

In The Summertime
Its hot as fuck in Japan right now. 60-70% humidity rates + air-conditioned lacking junior high schools = some sweat shit.
Wiley's follow up to "Wearing My Rolex" samples that one Daft Punk track from their 2nd album....sounding good.

Saturday Rave Tent in Yokohama
We stumbled into this outdoor port-themed festival with a lot of old people, live opera, and high school kids selling matcha cake. Then there were these dudes Kamome Sound System in the corner blasting techno the whole day. Actually I said what's up to this dude who was wearing a Skull Disco shirt so I'm assuming there was dubstep played at some point and then later on there was a couple dudes rhyming over some DJ Cam-ish beats.

Beds, Brides, Bread, Bells, and Bitches

I saw this bed hanging out the window of an aparto down the street today.

I saw this bride a few weeks ago before wasting time for a few hours.

Melissa showed us this bread machine on the way to eat curry in Kichijoji.

We saw this bell tree in Shizuoka on Lover's Mountain.

There's No Place Like Home
I am a goddamn nerd when it comes to Lost even though I could be nerdier about it. I'm so fuckin psyched to watch the season 4 final episode and I'm really glad that torrents are international. I heard this song from a now in-operable Lost fansite when I was first getting into the show around the start of Season 2. Try not to think about the beginning of the Darjeeling Limited and instead think about the Season 1 story arc.

...and with Mel Ferrer as Murchison
Yesterday I was in Tokyo on a few job interviews/information sessions. Japan as a whole is ripe with places looking for english teachers and lot of these companies are pretty similar. It's hard to tell straight off the bat what the working environment is gonna be like without knowing someone who already works for that company. I did meet with another company that deals with job recruiting for mostly pharmaceutical industries which would pay a shit-ton of ¥ and would allow me to save also a shit-ton. Not sure if that's gonna work out seeing as I have no previous experience in a a traditional paint-by-the-#'s "business" job but I would be down to try it out for a while and get some stacks.
There's no lack of stimuli in Tokyo though obviously. Just walkin around you can tell the energy here is much different than New York though there are a lot of similarities between the two. Dunno why but I kept thinking about this classic while wandering around yesterday.
Definitely worth checking out as I've noted before on Like Like.

Getting ready to move back to Japan and deciding on what gear to bring and what to look forward to picking up once there after racking up a decent shit ton of teaching hours...A lot of these tunes were done in the Kyoto spot, hopefully the archives will double up on this second time around.
